Felix Jaeger is Gotrek's reluctant companion and 'rememberer.' The black sheep of a rich Imperial mercantile family, he was initially a poet but was expelled from university after accidentally killing a student in a duel. After Gotrek saved Felix from being killed in the Window Tax Riots in Altdorf, Felix, in a drunken stupor, swore a blood-oath to record Gotrek's doom so that his honour could be maintained and to let him be remembered by the world. A blood-oath is the gravest oath a dwarf could make (even for a society obsessed with the sanctity of oaths), and so Felix was compelled to travel with Gotrek. A major theme in the novels is the tension within Felix between his desire to settle down in peace and comfort, away from the danger of being Gotrek's companion, and his longing to escape the banalities of civilized Imperial society for a life of heroism and adventure, and it is this conflict that shaped much of his relationship with Gotrek and his family.

In contrast to Gotrek's taciturn and absolutist mentality, Felix is a much more romantic, pragmatic figure, and frequently serves as the voice of logic and moral reason of the duo in order to remind Gotrek of the long-term consequences of his actions and guide him towards greater heroism. He also finds himself serving in a more diplomatic role, helping to soothe bruised egos after Gotrek's anti-authoritarian nature provokes allies or civilized society. Felix is also something of a womaniser, and forms several romantic relationships over the course of the series, most prominently with the Kislevite noblewoman (and eventual vampire) Ulrika Magdova.

Felix is a human with a swordman's physique and long blond hair, who favours a chain shirt and red cloak. Over years of following Gotrek, Felix has become an accomplished swordsman and duelist. His own weapon is the rune sword Karaghul, a blade with a dragon hilt recovered from the fallen hold of Karak Eight Peaks. A relic of the Knights of the Order of the Fiery Heart, it was forged for the purpose of slaying dragons. As shown in Dragonslayer, it grants him a shield from a dragon's fiery breath, as well as providing a powerful confidence when facing such a creature. As the decades pass, old acquaintances comment that Felix has not aged a day. First shrugged off as niceties, this soon becomes fact when, in Elfslayer, Max Schreiber verifies that Felix has indeed become immortal, or as close as to make no difference. Upon self-inspection, Felix also discovers that many of his old scars and wounds have vanished from his body. Max attributes this immortal state to various causes, from both Felix's and Gotrek's magical weapons, to some force encountered during their sojourn in the Chaos Wastes, to his passing through the wormhole in Sylvania. Many of his diaries concerning his and Gotrek's adventures have been published by his brother, Otto. The outlandishness and impossibility of the tales in question have brought most of its readers, including Otto, to believe it to be pure fiction.

It is also the first album since 1993's The Polyfuze Method not to feature his backing band Twisted Brown Trucker. Marlon Young is the only member from Twisted Brown Trucker to perform on the album. Kid Rock describes it as 'very organic blues-based rock and roll'.^[7] Cable network TBS used the title track, 'Born Free', for its coverage of the 2010 Major League Baseball postseason. As of June 16, 2011 Born Free is certified Platinum by the RIAA for shipments in excess of one million copies. This gave Kid Rock his sixth Platinum album certification in the US. A Michigan only promotion was released with the album. It was a 4-song EP called Racing Father Time.

Release and promotion[edit]

The album's lead single was the title track. The songs promotional push included being the theme for the MLB Playoffs, European Music Awards and the CMA Festival. He also performed 'Times Like These' at the American Music Awards and 'Care' at the Rally for Sanity. This led to a debut of 189,000 copies sold and landing at number five on the billboard top 200. VH-1 aired the Isle of Malta concert special. The following single 'God Bless Saturday' became the secondary theme song for ESPN's College Game Day. The third single 'Collide' saw him reunite with Sheryl Crow with whom he previously recorded his 2002 single 'Picture' and went on a joint tour with. 'Purple Sky' failed to chart and the final single was 'Care' with rapper T.I. and depending on the version, Martina McBride, Mary J. Blige or Angaleena Presley of the Pistol Annies.

Critical reception[edit]

Upon its release, Born Free received mixed reviews from most music critics.^[8] At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 63, based on 10 reviews, which indicates 'generally favorable reviews'.^[8]

AllMusic praised Born Free, saying it 'goes a long, long way toward keeping that heartland flame burning bright: it’s familiar yet fresh, and song for song it’s the best album Kid Rock has cut since Devil Without a Cause.^[1] This album was number 16 on Rolling Stone's list of the 30 Best Albums of 2010.^[9]

In the newer versions of Windows, the startup programs manager has been moved to the task manager. To open the task manager, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys.

In the Task Manager, move to the “Startup” tab and you will see all the programs that can be set to launch at Windows startup. Programs that are set to open at startup will have a status of “Enabled”. Right-click on those programs and select “Disable” to disable them.

3. Disable Startup Programs From Windows Registry

Above are the easiest ways to disable startup programs in Windows, but if you are looking for other options with different use cases; here are some.

Similar to the other things, startup items also create an entry in Windows registry. You can remove this entry to stop that program from starting at startup.

Warning: Before making any tweaks in the Windows Registry, make sure you create a backup of it. Any wrong tweak in the Registry could lead to corrupting Windows.

Press Windows+R keys to open Run dialog and enter “regedit” to launch Windows registry. Here you will find startup items in the below-mentioned locations:

Move to these locations and look for the program that keeps starting up with Windows. Once found, double click on it and remove all the text written in its “Value data” section. You can also delete the entry to stop that program from starting up.

Why It’s Useful: Disabling startup programs from Windows Registry is a good option for programs that keep enabling themselves to start with Windows every time you use them, such as CCleaner. This will disable their entry in the Registry and stop them from adding it again automatically in the future.

4. Use a Third-party App to Disable Startup Programs

There are many third-party apps available that will let you manage startup programs. Ironically, CCleaner is one of the best tools to disable startup items with just a click of a button. Download and install CCleaner and run the program.

Move to the “Tools” section on the left-hand side and then click on “Startup”. You should see all of the startup programs here. Simply select any of the programs you would like to disable and select “Disable” on the right side to disable it.

Why It’s Useful: A third-party program like CCleaner loads all types of startup programs, both from the registry and Windows startup folder. The built-in Windows startup manager may skip on some of the programs.

5. Disable Startup Programs from Windows Startup Folder

This is not one of the best ways to disable startup programs, but it is definitely the quickest and sometimes necessary. Programs added in the Windows startup folder are automatically set to launch when Windows start. Although many programs create a registry entry instead of adding their shortcut in Windows startup folder, but there are still programs that add a shortcut in the startup folder.

Furthermore, if you have manually added a program or script in the startup folder to make it start with Windows, then you will have to disable it from here instead of the built-in Startup manager.

To open the Windows startup folder, press Windows+R keys and type “shell:startup” in the Run dialog. This command will open the startup folder with all the startup programs/files listed. Simply delete the shortcut of the program to stop it from starting up with Windows.

Why It’s Useful: As pointed above, some programs do make an entry in the startup folder; you can quickly disable them from here. Additionally, manually added programs will also need to be handled from here.

Wrapping Up

If you are looking to speed up boot time and stop programs from eating your PC’s precious resources, then you should disable unnecessary startup programs. However do keep in mind that disabling all of the startup programs isn’t necessary, some programs are helpful (and sometimes compulsory) when starting up with Windows. For example, your antivirus program must start with Windows to ensure you are always protected or may be you can enable a program like Skype if you use it heavily.

In Cambodia, hard hit during the rainy season that began in May and will not end until October, the treatment for dengue fever can be an enormous burden for poor villagers, who, like Lang Chanthoeun cannot find the money for blood tests and, if found needed, treatment. Some go into debt rather than see family members suffer.

Money or health?

Meas Nee, a political analyst, said that for poor villagers like Lang Chanthoeun, to avoid taking on debt, they need to travel for free care at hospitals like Kantha Bopha in the capital, Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap.

After spending around $35 for her daughters’ blood tests and some medicines at a private clinic, Lang Chanthoeun said she cannot afford to travel for free care. A coconut shell seller, Lang Chanthoeun’s income dried up with the recent unseasonably heavy rains, and the taxi or bus for just one person would cost $10 to $15.

The government should consider providing a treatment center in the province so villagers don’t need to travel, said Meas Nee who holds a doctorate in sociology and international social work from Australia’s La Trobe University.

“Regardless of whether they used a public or private facility, villagers reported spending on average US$34.50 and up to US$150 for a single episode of dengue,” wrote Sokrin Khun and Lenore Manderson in their article, “Poverty, User Fees and Ability to Pay for Health Care for Children with Suspected Dengue in Rural Cambodia.”

In Kampong Thom province’s Krayea commune, many babies and young children have received dengue treatment in local private clinics and from state-run hospitals in the province. A few of them have been treated at the reputable Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

Both cities are far from Lang Chanthoeun’s rural village, where mothers line up at a private clinic in front of the commune hall. They suspect their children have dengue fever and want their blood tested.

Electricity at the clinic has been cut off because of nationwide shortages thanks to hot weather and the increasing demands from rapidly developing urban centers such as Sihanoukville.

Increasing debt

Pin Roeun is waiting for the results of a blood test for her 8-year-old son, Sok Kea. She said she can pay up to $50 for blood testing, which is usually around $15 to $25, and a short course of treatment.

“I don’t know yet the exact cost,” said Pin Roeun, 38, a farmer who grows cassava while she raises two boys and a girl.

If the cost exceeds $50, she will borrow more money, adding to her current $1,000 debt.

“If I can sell cassava, I can pay the principal,” said Pin Roeun, who had been paying $25 a month in interest on the debt for nearly a year.

Chun Mom, another villager at the clinic, is taking care of her 14-year-old son, Vann Vat, who may have dengue.

A cassava and cashew farmer, Chun Morn said it seems as if there is always somebody in her family who is sick.

“They often get sick like flu, stomach problem,” said the 30-year-old, who is carrying a debt of around $500.

Sun Kimroeun, the Sen Serey Mongkul village chief, said 90% of the 277 families in his village have borrowed money from microfinance institutions and banks.

“Some borrowed money for health treatment,” he said. “They can’t go to work if someone is sick,” he said, adding that most people in his village work at the rubber plantations.

According to the World Bank Group report “Microfinance and Household Welfare,” issued in February 2019, about 4% of borrowers need money to cover health- and injury-related expenses.

On the edge of poverty

Although poverty in Cambodia has fallen sharply in recent years, 4.5 million citizens teeter just above the global poverty line, according to the World Bank.

“The loss of just 1,200 riel (about $0.30) per day in income would throw an estimated 3 million Cambodians back into poverty, doubling the poverty rate to 40 percent,” Neak Samsen, a bank analyst, wrote in 2014.

Cambodia’s GDP per capita was $1,384 in 2017, according to a recent report by two NGOs, the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (Licadho) and Samakum Teang Tnaut.

Since 2006, the Cambodian government has run a program offering free health care at public facilities. Those who are eligible receive Equity Cards, known colloquially, and predictably, as “poverty cards,” which must be presented to tap into benefits.

But more than a decade after the program began with help from the German and Australian governments, many people remain frustrated and confused about the criteria used to allocate the cards and the benefits bestowed on their holders.

Neither Pin Roeun nor Chun Mom are in the program. That means they don’t have the card for the poorest of the poor.

Lang Chanthoeun said she qualified for the program but has yet to receive a card.

Module 3 - Instruments/Plugins. FL Studio is a complete Digital Audio Workstation and comes with many powerful instruments and plugins. You'll learn how to use the GMS synthesizer to manipulate sounds to create unique variants of bass sounds, lead sounds and even a customizable white noise riser/downfilter.

Open your Fl studio. I use Fl studio 7 – this is my favorite version.

First, you need to choose a tempo of the beat you want to produce… (RED). You can change tempo by using left mouse button and moving the mouse up or down, or you can right-click on tempo bar and tap tempo or choose from the list. The Blue color is your sample/loop library. You can export samples there and you them to your advantage. Green is a playlist where you will place all your patterns or samples to arrange your rap instrumental.

Ok, now with your tempo chosen we can start creating a simple drum pattern.

Creating Drum Pattern To Your Rap Beat:

Open your drum pattern panel (YELLOW). It should look like this:

Now choose samples from your sample/loop panel and drag and drop them to drum panel like I did above (RED). Now we can create a simple drum like this:

Ok, now we have the drum pattern to our rap instrumental done.

Creating Basic Melody For Rap Beats:

Let’s build a melody to our rap instrumental. Now right click on “Channel”(RED) in the main menu and select “Add one”(BLUE) and then select a plugin you want to use. For our rap beat, I will use a plugin named “Fl keys”. Check the image below to see how it have to be done:

Now when the plugin will show – right click on it and select piano roll (see image below) (RED). The piano roll will show. I created a simple melody for that rap beat you can copy and use:

If you use a newer version of Fl Studio you won’t have that pattern panel on the bottom of your Fl Studio. You can change pattern like on the picture below (RED). To change pattern just click on (RED) and select pattern. You can also cut (Ctrl+X) the melody and paste it (Ctrl+V) to a different pattern and fill the playlist in a different way like this:

Now let’s add some bass to this rap instrumental, shall we? You can select a sample of 808 or you can choose a bass plugin such as 3osc or BooBass. I will show you my secret method on how to create bass using 808 sample.

Creating Bass Using 808 Sample:

Select a sample from your library (left side). Then drag and drop the selected bass sample on your drum pattern (1)(RED). Now move to pattern 3 (See the previous image with red color to see where you can change patterns). Now click the bass sample on your pattern panel. (2)(YELLOW).

Ok now, see the image below and click “INS” in your 808 window (RED). Then select “VOL” category (LIGHT BLUE). Next is to change parameters from the left box (BLACK) to right box (WHITE). All parameters should look like this (YELLOW):

Ok, now we have more control over our 808 bass sample. We can now select the “Piano Roll” window and create our bass which should look like this:

Remember that the bass needs to fit melody harmony scale. You can read about music scales here :

Ok, so now you know how to create drum pattern, bass, and simple melody. Play with this and try to create 1 more melody to make your rap beat full.

You can also download this project with all the samples I used in a zipped file below. If you use newer version on Fl studio it should work. Panasonic sl 1300 turntable. The newest version of fl studio looks pretty similar so you won’t have any problems in finding tools.

From Heracles to Hercules

The story of Greece’s most famous hero was told throughout the Mediterranean. While the stories were similar, however, the name was sometimes different.

The character originated in Greek mythology, in which he was named Heracles. According to legend he had been given a different name at birth but had been renamed as a child.

In ancient Greek, Heracles translated as “glory to Hera.” The child had been named in the hopes of appeasing his stepmother, who was famously jealous of Zeus’s many mortal children.

Heracles was mentioned as a great hero in some of the earliest written texts we have from Greece. Both Hesiod and Homer wrote in the 8th century BC and included stories of the hero’s famous twelve labors and other adventures.

We know, therefore, that Heracles was well-known in the Greek world. Homer lived in mainland Greece but Hesiod never left him home in Asia Minor, meaning that the hero’s legends were not limited to a single region. Top pc games free download.

Over time, the story of Heracles expanded in Greek mythology. More stories were written about him, many presumably adapted from local legends of other characters.

My Modern Interpretation

By the Republican era in Rome, Heracles was already widely believed to be a god. The Romans inherited a character who was not just a hero, but was a full Olympian.

In the case of Heracles, however, the name had already made its way to Italy. The Etruscans called him Hercle, from which the Latin-speaking Romans took the name Hercules.

The Romans recognized Hercules as a Greek hero. While his name did not retain its original meaning, as Hera had been replaced by the Roman Juno, those Romans who spoke Greek understood that the stories of Hercules were set in that land.
